Moreno Valley Fire Department is one of seven fire districts serving the largest county in New Mexico. Extending from Palo Flechado Pass to the east, it covers the southern Moreno Valley from the southern-most part of Eagle Nest Lake south to the Mora County line. To the west is Taos County and the Carson National Forest, along with the southeastern part of the Taos Pueblo. To the east is the wilderness of the Philmont Scout Ranch. The total area of MVFD is approximately 233 square miles; mostly remote forests with some urban interface areas, especially around Angel Fire.

We have two main stations. Val Verde station is located on Hwy 64 between the base of Palo Flechado Pass and Eagle Nest Lake, near The Viet Nam Veteran’s Memorial. Black Lake Station is south of Angel Fire on Highway 434 on the way to Mora. One Sub-Station is located at the Angel Fire Airport and another is located at the base of Palo Flechado Pass on Highway 64.
